Dr. Javier Ampuero is responsible of the NAFLD outpatient office in the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocio, and senior researcher at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville and CIBERehd. Also, he is associate professor at the University of Seville from 2016. He earned his Medicine Degree in 2009 (Córdoba, Spain) and finished the Gastroenterology Residency in 2014 (Sevilla, Spain). He carried out a special rotation at the Viral Hepatitis and Liver Cancer Center of the University Hospital of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, US). He has complemented the academic formation with a Master in Biomedical Research Methodology (2013) and an Expertise in Hepatology (2015). In addition, he earned his Ph.D. in 2015 at the University of Sevilla. On the other hand, he has published many papers about Hepatology, being the senior author of manuscripts in Gastroenterology (2015), J Hepatol (2018) or Aliment, Pharmacol and Ther (2019). Also, he has been PI and SI in NAFLD projects and clinical trials. On the other hand, he has patented a non-invasive method to detect fibrosis in NAFLD (Hepamet Fibrosis Score, SE-510-18) and a score to calculate objectively the comorbidity related to Hepatitis C (HepCom Score, SE-1009-17).
