Federico García

Dr. Federico García is Head of the Microbiology Department, of Hospital Universitario Granada. Dr Garcia has been one of the GEHEP founders (Grupo de Estudio de Hepatitis de la Sociedad Española de Enfermedades Infecciosas); he has recently been moved to be the President of this group, and his research activities are now mainly dealing with HCV antivirals & resistance. His group has contributed with valuable information in the field of HIV resistance, with special contributions to RIS (Red de Investigación en SIDA), both at leading projects and international collaborations. Dr. García is in national and European expert committees on HIV resistance & Tropism and is the Spanish Board Member of the European Society of Antiviral Resistance (ESAR). The group contributes to several European organizations on resistance (ESAR, CORONET, HEPVIR), and participates in several cohort studies and programmes (ART-CC, SPREAD, COHERE, PLATOII, WHO-UNAIDS network). In the last five years, members of the group have participated in 75 publications in JCR indexed journals, with a mean Impact Factor of 5,123, have contributed to 8 clinical practice or consensus documents, and have been granted 10 competitive research projects from Spanish public agencies. Finally, Dr Garcia is leading the microbiome research activities from his department, in collaboration with several research groups for the University of Granada and from the industry.
